Default Cyl 1 TDC Help

Hi guys

Stupid question but how can I determine the #1 cylinder in TDC position with heads on and the Harmonic Balancer in place?

The cylinder head on passanger side is removed, I am going to install the rockers, pushrods etc and to follow the tightening procedure for the rocker arms but that requires cylinder 1 in TDC...

Can I get cylinder 1 in TDC by somehow looking at passanger side cylinders 2, 4, 6, 8 and then rotating the engine a certain amount of degree?

Help appreciated

Pull the #1 plug and put your thumb in the hole. As you come up to TDC, the pressure will build.

a more accurate method to find TDC, is to pull the plug, and stick something in the hole. a small dowel rod is preferred, but a metal rod will do. SLOWLY turn the crank by hand. You will see the rod move up. Just play with the position to get the rod to the apex of its stroke, and you will have it.

When #6 cylinder is at TDC #1 is also at TDC (It wont be on a compression stroke but all your doing is to use it to tell you when #1 is at TDC compression.). So,,,get #1 cylinder on the compression stroke (air out of the sparkhole) and bring #6 all the way to TDC. Then #1 will be there also!

Thanx, much appreciated!

You do not happen to know how much the Jezel 1.7 Shaft mounted roller rockers is supposed to be tightened??

Stock rocker arms, which are installed with one single bolt is 22 lbs but the Jezel comes in pairs and each pair is to be attached with three bolts, 22 lbs as well??

Help appreciated, again...
