You said you just bought the car right? Do you know in the intake has been taken off the car? It sounds to me like the vacuum line on the back of the intake has come off or not reinstalled if intake was off. Maybe the previous had an intake swap or oil press sending unit problem.

The vacum line runs to the back of intake on the right (passenger) side. You may find it easier to take the intake off, but you can get back there its just really tight.

Well sense you need to replace the oil press sending unit. you will need to pull the intake off any way. there is a tiny vacuum line on the back of the intake. When you pull the intake you will see why it gets over looked very small and hard to put on I know some people add a small peace of rubber line to it to make it longer and easier to attach. As far as I know it can't be attached with to intake on. So replace the oil press sending unit at the same time. You can kill 2 problems at once.

do you think it is a straight run ,from the back of the engine to the check valve,?and can a person get to the check valve without taking off the fender?

No, you'll need to take off fender. The other line is behind the intake mainfold and you'll have to take that off too.

The long black cannister by the door.

Just take out the front wheelhouse filler panel. No need to remove the fender. As per the service manual.

Remove the RH front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
Remove the RH front wheelhouse filler panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Filler Replacement in Body Front End.
Remove the PCM. Refer to Powertrain Control Module Replacement in Engine Controls.
Tape off the rear edge of the RH fender and the front edge of the RH door to prevent scuffing.
Open the RH door.
Utilizing the opening between the fender and the door, remove the screws retaining the vacuum tank (1) to the hinge pillar (3).
Working through the wheelhouse opening, disconnect the I/P harness vacuum connector (4) from the vacuum check valve (2).
Disconnect the engine harness vacuum connector (5) from the vacuum check valve (2).
Remove the vacuum tank (1) from the vehicle.
Disconnect the vacuum check valve (2) from the vacuum tank (1).

Vaccum line runs to canister from the back of the intake manifold.

You really should get the $100 manual-you probably spent several times that taking potshots already. The intake is relatively easy to R&R-do that 1st, bet that vacuum line is broken.

One line should go into the wiring harness, up the back of the engine to the manifold. The other is probably the one that goes through the firewall to the HVAC controller. The one going to the manifold is a pain to replace/repair because it is buried in the harness, much easier to just run a new line. I bet your battery leaked acid and ate the two lines up. You definitely need to neutralize the acid and repaint your frame damage if any. Also check your PCM and connectors for any acid damage and repair that too. Here's a good link with before and after pics of acid damage. Good luck!

edit: Check out the last pic in post #8 of this thread to show you which lines go where from the vac cannister.

I may be wrong here but, I think the line goes thru the firewall next to the wire harness that goes thru the firewall also, under the batt tray. I don't think it's actually in the harness. Someone flog me if I'm wrong!
