They look good to me i will use my current high flow cats this will be a easy addition only having to cut 2 pipes i think that the fit is good and the welds are good we will see the numbers soon. Props to 03 thanks for the picts. I think it will the decision making process for the rest of us .The number to OBX is 18667383222 ask to talk to someone about the c5 headers and when ask for their distributer number they will give it to you.IF you order direct from them they will give you a 10$ discount and will ship for 598.00 shiped. Can anyone chime in and tell us why these will not produce the equal hp or maybe 1 or 2 hp less than a competitor.

Just looking at them, they don't have anything fancy for the collector (merge, etc), but the primaries sure look the same as the name brands. I'd guess they would be within a couple percent of the more expensive, possibly a wash. I'm still quite happy with them. No leaks, and they aren't hitting anything either.

there are lots of factors that can make a difference in both power and power curve / bands in the intake & exhaust systems. the most common terms you'll hear about what usually makes the difference are things like

Pressure equalization between cylinders (or banks)
equal air travel lengths
back pressure
low pressure areas
scavenging

"tuned" is just how all of these things are used together, but a properly tuned intake / exhaust system can / will make more power than just a bunch of pipes thrown together (intake more so for turbo cars, exhaust "tuning" has more of an effect for non turbo cars, for turbos you generally just go for the most free flowing exhaust you can get. Not sure about SC).

Flowmaster loves to point out that one of their mufflers actually makes -more- power with the muffler than with a completely unrestricted system.

So absolutely there can be differences! Look forward to see how this system does!

All?? Most have been quite supportive I'd say. Just because someone may not spend their own money on the same thing does not mean they think it's a garbage no name header, you're the first person I've seen call it that. Most are just concerned that there might be problems, and rightfully so I'd say given their well documented history with selling products that have a large % of problems.

Still waiting to hear more from the guy that's seen them taken off for problems. But with the updates about the install being easier than it first sounded like they're sounding more promising! I'd still like more info about the distributor as well.

Default Numbers Are In!!

Just got it dyno tuned by Charlie at RPM. Before the headers I had the Vararam, Borla Cat Backs, 3.42's and a dyno tune with RWHP 326. Now with the OBX headers and great tune by Charlie I got 356 rwhp and 365 ft-lb of torque! I asked Charlie how these headers compared with others and he said they were slightly above average in the hp gain and that the torque was the really impressive thing. I will look for my old dyno sheet and let you know the peak torque back then. If i remember right the peak torque was less than 320 ft-lb. As for now here is a few pics of the dyno sheet. Hope this answers any ?'s if not let me know

Congrats!

Did you have a tune done with those last numbers from the same shop before the headers and this run, or do these numbers account for both the headers and a tune you didn't have before?

I'm no expert on dyno graphs, but from the few I've seen it looks a little interesting. First of all, that's quite a flat torque curve!! Second though, the HP curve seems to be very linear, almost like a perfect 45* climb all the way from about 2k - 5k rpm, which seems like a slow start to me? I haven't seen a stock graph, so I could be way off here, but only 120 hp at 2k rpm? And only up to 200 by 3k rpm? Is that normal? I would have expected more meat down low with long tubes, or is that all in the flat torque curve?

Please correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't it usual for the HP curve to climb a little quicker to reach more power a bit earlier in the rpm range?

Great overall numbers though!! Would love to see that old dyno graph!

I had my first dyno tune done by LAPD's old tuner...i forget his name. The peak power with his tune was 326 hp w/ borla cat backs, 3.42's, and a vararam. Now after the header install and dyno tune by Charlie at RPM my peak power is 356 hp. I must be honest though, I attribute quite a bit of the gain to Charlies tune. He is really really good at what he does!! Not sure about the dyno sheets, interested to hear what other say about it. And i will look for the old dyno sheet

Default Old dyno #s

Finally found my old dyno sheet hope you can read it. Looks like I was way off about guessing my old torque. Peak Power was 325.79 and Max Torque was 336.68. Here is two pics of the old dyno sheet...

I bet with a torque curve like that it's a lot of fun to drive!

Looking forward to that old graph if you can find it. I'm used to turbo app dyno sheets, so maybe that's a trait of turbo cars moreso than NA's. I'm sure someone else familiar with c5 dyno sheets can fill us in

Ok, so the HP increase rate is similar between the two graphs, that's good!

So you went from 325.79 hp & 336.68 Tq to 356 hp & 365.4 Tq, so you gained 30.21 Hp & 28.72 Tq from headers and a fresh tune, not bad considering it had already been tuned before! With the mods you have I would have expected more if it had never had a tune before, or less if it didnt have a tune and you didnt get one this time.

So that's not bad.

You have 350 torque from 2500 -5250 RPM with it peaking at 365.4, & still over 310 Tq down at 2000 RPM, that's pretty darn good I think!
