I think my battery finally went is there anything i need to know before changing it out does it matter how long i have the old battery out before i put the new one in. Will i have to reset every thing ? Its a 1999
I didn't have to reset anything in my 01. I installed an AC Delco Professional battery with 50-month free-replacement warranty (with additional 3 years of pro-rated warranty). My OEM battery lasted 7 years and was still cranking when I replaced it.
On the early C5s, you may need to RE-SYNC your FOBS. If you have a security code set in your radio, it would be wise to find it prior to removing the battery. Once the battery is removed,,,it will cause the radio to lock out (If the radio has a security code set)
Make sure that you clean the battery terminal, make sure that there isnt any plastic between the cable terminal and the battery terminal.
The correct battery cable bolt torque for 97-03 is 11 ft/lbs
On my car, whenever I've done work that required disconnecting the battery, the only thing I've ever had to reset is the clock. Even the radio persets are retained. There have been times when it was disconnected for more than a week.

His statement here is very important. I am repeating it so it gets noticed.
