Update on 2002 just died
I went to the local 7-11 with my daughter at midnight,came out and the car is DEAD!!! WTF? The battery has full power. Turn the key and you hear one click and thats it. A couple of guys pushed me to try to "bump" start it and when I popped the clutch the wheels were locked. I feels like the engine is siezed. The car ran great on the way there no noises or anything else. Has this ever happened to anyone else? :confused: :eek: :confused: :eek: :confused: :eek: :seeya

Where you driving in the Rain or heavy snow?
Any codes come up?
Check the fuses. If nothing there, then I would check the filter (see if it is wet), take a plug out and check its condition, check the battery charge.

Thanks,I'll check the wires in the morning (it's 1:31 am now). What really has me concerned is that when i popped the clutch the wheels were locked. Usually they "hop" a little. Their has been no snow or rain on this car, however, I spent three hours washing it today, then put it in the garage, then drove it about 1/2 mile to 7-11. Oh well...it always gets dirty at the dealer so that three hours was a waste. I'll keep you posted...Thanks again :seeya :seeya :cheers:

About once every two years, my 1994 Z-28 does the same or less. Turn the ignition, then it clicks or does nothing. Lights and radio still work, starter just won't turn it over. I leave it for 10 to 20 minutes, come back, and it roars back to life, no problem. I don't get a jump, I don't disconnect and reconnect anything, the most I do is open the hood and check the connections.
Obviously, something electrical, but I can't repeat the problem. I've still got the original starting system, and it works over 99% of the time. My uneducated guess is the starter solenoid somehow hasn't stored enough amperage. I don't know why. Please share if you find any info on this gremlin.

Did you push start in 1st gear? I usually use second gear as with many light high compression cars the wheels can't turn the motor over. Good luck with your problem, I would like to see what it turns out to be. I just got an 02 myself.

O.K....Just got the call from the dealer. At first he was worried because the engine wouldn't even turn over by hand. Turns out that the starter came apart on the inside. He will have one tomorrow morning and I can pick up my car tomorrow nite. :yesnod: :yesnod: :seeya :seeya

The big question was - Where did that roller bearing come from?
