C6 Z06 or MGW (this is bad boy) i have C6 Z06 shifter and i love it its not only smooth in shifting but also little shorter in ht than stock Z5 Z, but i tested other Z with MGW, man if i buy next it would be MGW.
There are two types of shifters that you need to choose from.
Spring centered and NON spring centered. The OEM shifter for both C5 and C6 are a NON spring centered (no springs assist the shifter to center to the 3rd/4th gate) shifters.
I find center springs very helpful for accurate and quick shifting. The Kirban is a high quality shifter that has centering springs as do a few others.
Your transmission has centering springs but there not very strong. Centering springs help keep you from going from 3rd to 2nd during spirited shifting. Your engine wont enjoy that one bit!
Of course, proper hand placement on the shift **** and the correct shifting technique will also prevent this issue.
The Kirban shifter isn't as short as the others but, it shifts very good.
I recommend that you find other C5 owners in your area with aftermarket shifters and give then a shift or two to see if you like it.
