Harlan sharp 1.7rr failure
Which RR are you guys using or recommend? I am about to put a monster cam in this motor and want a good set of RR. I will not use this type again. I would use the stock ones if I could, but these heads really don't work with them. Ideas?

None yet still waiting to get it. Just saying what was recommended to me. Something about the angle of the heads that roller rockers are the only option on TFS heads and that they only would recommend YTs.

How many miles on the Harlands? Aluminum in general has a much lower fatigue life than steel. With a stout setup, you may need to change them when valve springs are changed. I have only seen one or two Yella Terra failures, none with Crane, lots with Scorpions and quite a few Harland Sharps.
Jesel has a new steel shaft system out, beautiful design but I don't know the cost. Link

I wouldn't necessarily blame the brand for the failure. HS is a decent brand with a good rep. Any part can go bad and all manufacturers have failure rates for new parts.
All that being said, Yella Terra seems to be the rocker of choice.

These look pretty good. Stud mount, adjustable, they fit under stock valve cover and they are $410. I wonder how well the polylocks stay fastened.
I forget which brand, but in the past had polylock rockers that I could not keep locked. I want to say I was using comp cams pro magnums w/solid cam and had this problem. Its looking more like YT's now. The bolt down rocker is just too easy.I hope I don't have pushrod length issues changing over.

Without question the best of the best would be Jesel but as with most shaft mount you need to machine the heads to use them.
Have you looked at the Crane shaft mount? Also a good choice.

THe cheapest way to go is YT. They are very similar rockers, so not sure about those. Next up is Summit Racing RR, Comp Cams, Crane, Lunati, and Jessel. The Crane shaft mounts caught my attention, just not sure if I need to machine the heads for them. Just as well get a good set.

Buy 1 replacement Harlan Sharp so you can sell them as a set and then buy the Crane RR's I have them and drive my car like I stole it with no issues. They're alot beefier than the YT's. Lower weight is worthless if it can't hold up. The kit comes with 7.250 push rods. Check our parts for sale as well as LS1techs' for some good used ones. That's what I did.

That setup isn't too extreme. We run the stockers on those heads and Cams with lift higher than that. The trick is setting the stock rockers up correctly by shimming them.

Crane shaft mounts require major machining of the head including milling of the rocker bosses and changing thread pitch of the rocker bolt holes. You would need to remove the heads for them. They also required either new valve covers or spacers to clear.

I'll let you guys know how I like the Yella Terras. Also have a backup Harlan Sharp coming in thanks to the warranty offered by HS.

All manufactures have failures in the field and I do mean all. Comp,HS,Crane and the Aussie stuff are all good RR,but they are not always perfect...sometimes defective parts do get out.
