Default 220/220 cam questions

I have a 2002 corvette with bolt ons
I want to get a cam but am having trouble choosing
I was wondering if any one knows how much hp i would gain with a 220/ 220 cam ?
Also how loud it is
I am looking for the quietest way to add 60 hp with a cam.

60 hp? need to go bigger then a 220/220 and noise is part of a free flowing exhaust which means MORE HP.

to gain 60 some hp with a cam only your looking at good size cam to do so. LG X2 or X3, some LTs and free flowing exhaust. YES it will make some noise

If you're looking for an additional 60rwhp from a cam I would go to at least a 224/224 cam on a 114 or 115 lsa since you want stock like idle it seems. Also, in regards to how loud it will be, depends on your exhaust setup i.e. LT's cats or no cats, and the catback.

Nope dont think you get 50 more maybe 20 more

For 30-35 more a 224/224 581/581 on 114 for some what quite or 112

224/228 581/588 on a 114 or 112
for 40 more an LG X3

Any of these will be louder.

Sound is the result of free flowing exhuast and more hp

I have a 2000 C5 and installed a SDPC mild Cam (Comp Cams grind) 220/224/114 .551/.551. I am making 360 RWHP. I also installed a set of LG Street LT headers and high flow cats when I put the cam in and an LS6 intake. Had a dyno tune done following the install. The car idles fairly smoothly at 800 rpm, though the cam is noticeable, compared to stock. I think some of the difference is attributable to the LT headers. The car is much more responsive with the cam am I am very satisfied with the performance improvement, however the idle characteristics are a little more than what I expected. If you want to keep stock idle and sound characteristics, I would be careful with how big of a cam you go with. I read alot of threads on here with guys claiming 400+ RWHP with cam only installs and I am a bit skeptical.

If you want 60H.P. cam only you will have to go big.The cam in my sig. is advertised to pick up 45-50H.P. I don't know what emissions testing is like in La.(no testing in In.)but I think it would tough to pass with my grind.

I had a 216/224 0.551/0.551 114.5 LSA in my car that I just removed. That cam gave me 40 and was pretty easy on the valve train as well as being relatively quiet valve train wise.

I have a 218/224 .605/,581 115 LSA cam in my 02 Vert.It idles like stock at 650 rpm.I put heads on at the same time so I can't tell you how much HP I gained. My best quess would be 40hp.
