The place that you purchased Red Top. from should be able to warranty it if you have the purchase receipt! There shouldnt be ANY squabbling about the warranty. Try to find an Autoparts store that sells OPTIMA and bring the receipt and battery back to them.
If that falls through, go to WALMART and get a walmart battery. Cant beat them for the price. The last walmart battery I purchased lasted 6 years.
I use the Exide Orbital battery which is also a dry cell battery like the Optima. Mine works great and I use a Battery Tender jr to keep it juiced up with corvette downtime. I bought it at Napa auto.
Well, I guess I may need to retract my statement. I took the battery to have it checked out and it came out good. Seems my charger took a crap. So I bought a new AGM/Gel charger so we will see if this fixes the problem.
I've used Kirkland store brand batterys from Costco, for replacements in all my cars and trucks. Never had a problem of any kind with them, in more than 15 years of using them.
I use an Optima Red top, but I also use a battery maintainer when ever it sits for more than 3 days. These batteries do not like the slow current draw of a C5.
I would only use an AGM (Absorbant Glass Mat, they don't leak) battery. If battery leaks acid, your computer is under it, not worth the chance. People say new batteries don't leak, but better sure than sorry. I have used the Exide Orbital (an AGM Battery) with good results.

Optima Red Top Battery burn date 12/2002, installed August 2003.....still strong in the cold Michigan weather. May be time to have another on hand just in case, 75/35.
Cheapo exide from the local parts store... Had a Red Top from Optima and had nothing but issues with the unit holding a charge for more than three weeks of inactivity.

Saw too many posts with bad Optima batteries, so on the '99 that I no longer have, the first AC Delco failed terribly with the positive post falling off which fortunately happened when I had the hood opened and looking at it. A Costco battery went in because that was the only place open at the time. Later, a Sam's battery went in when I detected a slightly slowing of the starter and here earlier this year before I gave away the car to my son, I put another new Sam's battery in it. Like Bill Curlee, they are cheap and they last.
