I bought the last of them (26 of them) about a month ago, I had to order some other ones on there and take them to a local shop to have the terminals put on correctly, I forget the part number but it did start with p030-

*EDIT* the other ones you can use are the P029-ND and have the terminals put on the correct way at the battery shop.

02 sensor looks different. only 1-1/2" wide. P/N label on front/back. Doesn't look as wide as the one shown.
Thanks.

So, if I understand correctly, you can program the sensors without the magnet if the car is rolling?

The later sensors are less expensive than the earlier version, thus you are better off buying new sensors instead of replacing the batteries.

I just bought one. It was $80.00. I would rather buy a $4.00 battery if it's possible to change it.
Programming it was much easier than I anticipated. I need a little stronger magnet, however.

Thanks,

AL

Default What I use for TPS

Hey, all I use for a magnet is a old speaker that I have laying around. Speakers have quite a strong magnet and it does the trick for me when I need to reprogram the sensors

Default Replacements

If your not into four hours of work, I found aftermarket replacements for my 99 for 300 and change delivered. That and 60.00 was all it cost to break down the tires and wheels and be done. Your going to have to have the wheels broke down anyway so that is really not an extra cost.
The units I got were made by Schrader but are smaller and orange in color. They work great I have just over a thousand miles on them since the change. They matched up with the book procedure.

Where are the $38 ones? I could justify that. Right now I am just looking to have a spare as they fail one by one.

I don't know anything about 38.00 ones. My time is worth more than:
1) Having to take a tire and wheel to a tire store having the tire removed.
2)Then going home having to spend an hour digging out out the old epoxy unsoldering and soldering a new battery filling it with epoxy waiting for it to dry.
3) Hoping it works
4) taking the wheel and tire back to have it re-installed.

One thing for sure if one battery is dying the rest aren't far behind.

300.00 plus the cost of mounting one every 7-8 years is not bad maintenance.

When I got my 99 Convertible I had one go then another one go. When the second one went I thought screw this and replaced the remaining 3.

I don't have the time to putz with them one at a time for those that do I say go for it.

Guys, look into getting your sensors rebuilt, its more than 1/2 the price less than buying new. JW Motoring does it but the tech wont be able to do them till Aug.

Supporting Vendor TireRack.com has them for $63 each. You just have to call from what I hear.

A magnet is a magnet. Just about any magnet will do as long as you get it right over the sensor to trip the magnetic reed switch in the sensor.
