Default 1997 Tire Pressure Sensor Battery Replacement Tutorial/Video

I've had about 12 years of soldering experience and I love ripping things apart and fixing them. Once the top layer of epoxy was scraped off this was a cakewalk to replace the battery. The Battery is a common 3 volt Lithium CR2477N. You can buy one at Digikey.com (LINK) Part Number "P030-ND". I then closed it up with Silicone which I let dry for a full 24 hours or until it got hard enough so that I can safely put it in the wheel with out worrying about the air in the wheel getting hot and softening the silicone. I would also recommend getting a box of #9 rubber washer and also a box of #8 to replace the one on the sensor. You can grab this washer for about 30 cents at home depot in plumbing section. What I did was slid the #9 onto the base of the sensor then a #8 over the #9 washer basically creating a pyramid of washers. Then I reinstalled the sensor. If you just put one washer on you might run into a small leak down the road as I did...then again you might not.

Finally reprogramming these things can be much simpler if you just used these Magnets that Supporting Vendor Jhonathan_W from our forums sell for $13.00 USD.

I added a link to the Digikey.com website direct to the battery you need in the main post and right here in this one. Enjoy! Also you can grab a #9 rubber washer from home depot in the plumbing section to replace the washer that goes between the sensor and the rim.

Excellent videos. My 98 TMS are still ticking, but I know that they will soon be in need of replacement and your video was great for reference. Thanks for sharing.

Question, how many times did you shove the screwdriver tip into your other hand? Wearing a glove on that hand would be advised.

you say in your video that the sensors are same to 2002. They are from 1997-2000 and 2001-2004. Great Video!
