Learned my lesson with that, 1/2" gash in my thumb, now I wear a thick glove on my left hand.

When I was in the Air Force, I had a hip to toe cast after my knee surgery and had to deal with three flights of stairs every day to get to and from my room. One time I got high sided on my crutches and dropped 6 feet, thought I was going to die it hurt so bad. So take it easy and do the rehab.

I start rehab tomorrow and am looking forward to it but I also start work tomorrow too . But the Airforce has been taking good care of me.

I checked out Digikey and the only number I could come up with is CR2477VCN is that the same Batt.?

Replaced the main post with a LINK to the battery and a correct part number. I also had the time to install all 4 sensors in my car and am happy to say they all work PERFECTLY!!!!

Default Pressure Sensor Battery Replacement

Thanks for your very informative "How to" video. I was about to send my transducers off to get the batteries replaced. I have one sensor out already. Instead I just ordered 4 batteries. Great job!!!

How would you test the battery with a voltmeter to make sure you have the connection properly made? I am a little bit familiar with the voltmeter. Is it the same as checking a socket for 110 or 220? But I assume you are looking for a different reading?

Thanks for taking the time to do this whole tutorial.

Set the volt meter selector switch to DC Volts and if there are different voltages ranges, select one that will read at least the voltage that the circuit that your reading has for anticipated voltage on the battery.

Then read across the terminals on the circuit board. That will only tell you that you have voltage at those two points. It wont tell you that the sensor is working.

Thanks

I was thinking of putting the car into learn mode and checking to see that it recognizes the sensor even though its not in the tire.

Just curious, how hard will it be to remove that new silicone? A lot easier then the previous epoxy? In case I make a mistake.

I bought the battery and have it in-hand.
I have the sensor out of the wheel and is in-hand
I will follow this process very shortly.

My first question is.....what is the purpose of the magnets you mention? Are they used to simulated centrifical force? I have a huge speaker magnet. Will that work? What is the programing process with the sensor and magnet?

I would like to program the sensor to the car before I goop up the sensor with silicone, if that is at all possible. My 99 Vette is not drivable because that tire is off the rim, awaiting the sensor.

Questions, Questions.

The magnet is used to close a magnetic reed switch inside the sensor to activate the sensor. The sensor gets activated in two ways. Centrifugal force or the magnet. Once the DIC is in the Tire Sensor program mode, the magnet wakes up the sensor and the RFA transmits the sensor info to the BCM. Install the sensor in the rim and pressurize the tires and program all the sensors. Its that simple.

Thank you for the explanation on the magnet. I suppose I could drive the car during the programing, or have it parked using the magnet. I will try that. Thanks!

BTW: I just replaced the battery last night. I followed the video exactly. The black potting material was harder to dig out than observed on the video. But all went according to his instruction.

The only thing I did different was when it came to the soldering. I used a solder sucker to remove all the original solder on the circuit board. This made the 2 soldering areas lower & flat, which allowed me to bend the under-side battery contact, over the pad a little to improve the strength of that particular solder joint.

I also used a clear RTV silicone sealer instead of the black. This will make it easier to replace the battery next time because one sees the battery and soldering inside, through the clear silicone & hot glue gun goo.

To the OP....Thank You So Much For A Great Video Instruction. I couldn't have done it without that.

I will report one last time to confirm the sensor is opperational after programing.
