Default mechanic's first c5

there are not many C5's in New Zealand , im taking mine in because im hearing a noise from the rear when going over rough roads, i thought i might get the radiator flushed and a general look over, are there anythings i should tell the mechanic to look at that need attention on C5's, or to be careful with.

Check the integrity of the sway bar end links. If you have the plastic ones, they are known to fail and this could easily result in the noise you're hearing.

Good luck... GUSTO

There are several COMMON noise producing items on a C5. The sway bar endlinks can and will cause noise.

The muffler system hangers can also make noises. There suspended on springs and frequently produce noises.

The rear output shafts where they attach to the rear wheel bearings can make noise. The shafts are splined to the rear wheel bearings and can groan when going over bumps and uneven road surfaces. If there making noise, they need to be lubricated.

Make sure that the nuts that secure the output shaftes to the wheel bearing are properly torqued.

Check the rear wheel bearings. jack the rear wheels and see if there is any lost motion between the wheel and the bearing. There should be very little if any lost motion.

The sway bar bushing can groan and pop if there dry. Make sure that the brackets that secure the bar to the rear cradle are properly trrqued.

Some have found loose suspension components. Its a good idea to check the major suspension parts for correct torque.

There are a few things that you can check.
