Thanks guys, i'll check for coolant in the cylinders...I didn't notice any white smoke, but then again i've only driven it for 5 minutes in the past 6 months. (just got it back running from doing the ls7 clutch swap).

there's still coolant in the reservoir, but if just a little bit has escaped into the cylinders i wouldn't notice yet.

thanks for all the help!

This is common with this type of starter. In 99 Delco swapped these out for OE#9000853 due to this problem occurring in the 5.3 trucks. The only problem is this unit will not fit the vettes.

I would still make sure and double check everything like the other posters recommended before upgrading or going with a third.

Default ok...you were right

Ok, you guys were right...as soon as I started taking the exhaust off, i had a puddle on my floor...mmm, yep it's nice and sweet tasting...

I tore it down last night and of course it was #7.

I installed the heads myself and torqued them down properly in the correct sequence (using a sharpy & instructions from ls1howto.com)

Sooooo...is this just a gasket malfunction? I can't seem to find anything else wrong...everything seems to be undamaged, I just wonder if i should slap on a new mls gaskets (instead of factory stock) & head studs?

here was my catch can (wilkerson coalescing filter) that i couldn't see until i removed it (its in front near the radiator). full of coolant & oil

heads.

Use a dye penaterent to look for invisivle cracks in and around #7 cyl. There can be a crack in the cylinder and you cant even see it!

The dye will make it stand out!! The cylinder and area that your testing hast to be SPOTLESS!!
