I picked up some aftermarket wheels that are not friendly to TPMS Sensors, does anybody know if there is a bypass product of any kind on the market, or some nifty trick to "tricking" the system so I dont have to see the annoying message every time I turn the ignition???? I know this is prob. an old question asked lots of times, but any help would be appriciated!
Thanks!
Not for the 1997-2000 C5’s. The 2001-2004 C5’s can have the feature programmed out of the BCM.
You can have them strapped to the rim inside the tire, and they will work that way. Locate them near the stem so that you will know where they are located, so that you can program them with a magnet.
Thanks guys, those are some interesting ideas haha, I would have never thought of holding it out the window like that...how could I not look cool doin that haha! Anyway, I am curious, you said to strap it to the inside of the wheel, that is an interesting idea, epoxy maybe?????
There are several products available that allow you to easily attach the seasors inside the rim and retain the feature on any aftermarket rim. One of them has a special mount that you install as a valve stem and that valve stem has a holder on it.
I tried to use the search function to fine the post but the search feature is HOSED!!!
To have this programmed out of the BCM, is this something the dealer has to do ? Or is there another source ?
It can only be accomplished using a GM Tech II. Dealers have then BUT,,,,,,so do outside garages and privite individules. Most good corvette shops and tuners have them and can use them to do that.
Most dealers will not turn them off, but will turn them on if previously off or putting sensors on a Z06. Federal law from 2007 prevents them from deactivating the TPM.
Having Tire Pressure Sensors on non-runflats are a good idea as you will get an early warning with a slow leak. Of course they are a MUST with runflats.
You can change the TPMS (and Key-fob) receiver to use the less expensive 2001-2004 TPS & 2001-2004 fobs.
