Default memory seats sometimes work sometimes dont???

I need some help...
When i get into my car and put the key in the ignition the memory seats are supposed to go back to my set position. Well that only happens about 1/2 the time.

I can pull out the key and put it back in and it still does nothing. i then set the seat manually and the next time or time after i get in to drive the car they will work and sometimes not.

Anyone have any ideas???

Search on the subject. I know some members have had success with cleaning the sensor contacts. I had to have my modules replaced and there were 2 of them. The normal and obvious one under the seat and a companion one in the door. I do not remember the specifics, but after I got the module under the seat replaced I still got erratic operation. It was only after I took the car back and complained that it was still acting up did they find out the module in the door needed replacement too. Since then it has worked like a charm.

Hmm... I thought I had that problem too, but in my case it turned out it was "pilot error". See, I didn't realize that the two key fobs are not identical. There is a number 1 and a number 2 key fob. If you have unlocked your car with fob 2, and set the seat position to memory, then the seats will only resume that position if fob 2 is used in the future. If you use fob 1, you'll recall whatever positions were stored, the last time fob 1 was used when the seats were set. In this manner, each fob can access its own seat position memories. This is so that two drivers can have their own key fob, and not mess up each others' seat position memory. problem was that at the end of the day, both sets of keys would end up in a pile and I'd randomly grab one or the other. I was going nuts trying to figure out why my seat memory was wonky. When I moved to just using the same fob over and over, I never had the issue again.

Maybe that's your case too... such an easy fix! If that's not the case, then I can't tell you what else to look at.

Are you locking the car and then unlocking it with the fob set up for your settings?

If you dont unlock the car it wont set the memory settings unless you hit the door switch.

Unlock with key 1 and you get those settings
Unlock with key 2 and you get key 2 settings
Hit both door buttons and you can set a 3rd program

When first entering your vehicle, after pressing the
unlock button on your remote keyless entry transmitter

or a MEMORY button, a recall of your settings will
occur when the door is closed and the ignition key is in
the ignition switch. As the memory settings are recalled,
the light above the button will flash until the correct
settings are achieved,

I have had the same problem forever. I never tried cleaning the contacts in the connector though. I just shut off the easy entry feature since I am the only one that drives the car. I may try the connector fix.

I had a similar problem on my 02 until the power seat just quit working for forward/reverse movement of the seat. After the seat motor was replaced, no more problems. Fortunately, I had an extended warranty.

The memory function only activates if you have locked then unlocked the car.

I have this issue in a random way. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When I put the key in, and it doesn't work, I just touch the memory button on the door, and the seat goes into the correct position. No big deal for me.

There are a number of problems and NON problem issues that can cause this issue...

First, you need to understand that ALL the C5/C6 modules require a minimum/maximum operating voltage to operate properly.

If they do not receive that voltage, they will protest. Which results in NOT operating at all or shutting down when the condition exist and throwing HISTORY DTCs and returning to normal operation once the condition corrects its self.

So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,read your DTC's and report what DTCs are present.
(If you have a significant number of history DTCs,,recommend clearing them and seeing what reappears during normal operating conditions.)

Then,, realize that, when you start your car,,,, you place a SIGNIFICANT current demand on the cars BATTERY. During that STARTING sequence,, heavy battery load,,,,,if your battery isn't able to provide the correct current / voltage during the starting phase and proper system voltage isnt maintained ,, (battery voltage is inversely proportional to current draw) ,, battery voltage will cause modules to drop off line during times of high current draw (starting the engine) and reset the C5 modules to the factory preset conditions.

When they reset to the factory preset condition,,,, you will loose all of your customer set FOB pre sets that you have set for that FOB or any other FOB that you have.
