I have LG STREET SERIES on my 97 C5 and had it installed by RPM in Santa Clarita, CA about 6 months ago and now its time to get smogged. I am not from Cali and know very little about the smog test but the guy doing it told me he couldn't read the results and it was "way over" by passing standards and the the headers are "off road use only"
Anyone who can help me pass with any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!
Great...... I installed the streets with the high flow as well a few months ago.....not good news. Questions, did you let the car run for a while and REALLY let the cats heat up? This is important.....
Will, I just called Keith at RPM to let him know of your troubles. He will be contacting you either through this thread or via PM to let youknow how to handle this problem.
I couldn't be too specific about your condition, as you did not state if you had a tune done at the timeof install or not.
Even if your car is tuned to pass the sniffer test, you'll most likely fail the visual if you have LT's. Only a couple brands of shorties have the CARB exemtpion...B&B, BBK, and JBA are all 50 state legal.

RPM should've warned you that LTs are illegal in CA. I know many guys will tell you that their smog guy pretends the LTs are not there when he does the visual part of the smog test, but the fines for getting caught are huge, so the shops that let LT-equipped vehicles slide are becoming few and far between.
Regarding the sniffer test - make sure your cats are almost glowing hot and that the smog place takes you in, immediately after you arrive. Set the appointment, first. Unfortunately, CA lowers the HC limits over the years, making it tougher for us to pass. Here's what my car has produced over the years:
