Default Solid engine mounts for DD use?

Hey guys,

What do you think about running solid engine mounts in a DD? I live in Rochester NY where there is no stop and go traffic. (Seriously, I've been in 2 stop-go driving situations in 2 years, both the result of a huge accident).

I figure there will be some increased vibration at idle, etc., but don't have anyway to judge how bad it will be in these cars.

Opinions, thoughts, advice; all welcome!

Solid mounts will place more stress on the aluminum block at the attaching points.

Seems like overkill on a “street” car. What possible benefit do you expect?

I forgot to mention this will be used with an iron LSX 427 block.

The benefits are reduced "twist" in the drive train and more power to the rear tires.

I did near solid poly mounts and trans mount in my mustang. I loved it. The car felt more solid and the car seemed to react to my right foot more closely and less slop.
I fully plan to do it with this vette too using those PFADT mounts.

The mustang was cammed with a delrin bushing and spherical bearing suspension so NVH increase was negligable and not really a concern.
This vette is cammed and full exhaust and I don't believe it's going to increase NVH in a bad way.

I have the Phadt solid mount mounts in my car, and I do drive it daily. The only negative I found, it the engine vibration can now be felt in the passenger compartment when idling. Still, not a big deal. I would definitely do it again.

Do poly mounts like the PFADT's but be prepared for enough vibration to make the DD ride unpleasant.

It's been proven that when you use the upgraded lime green blinker fluid, the engine still flexes against the motor mounts.

I used to advocate the tangerine orange blinker fluid, but once I used tang by mistake.

solid motor mounts = orbital sander pressed against you butt

not quite but with a race seat, ie no padding and solid mount bolted to the floor, it sure feels that way.

lime green blinker fluid ??????? darn now why didn't I think of that
