I would bet the farm on it. I just think people on this forum should know before they take a huge loss on their current vehicle to buy an 02 Z06. Dont forget the 03 Cobra Mustang is coming out with 390 reported HP, and with no F-body to go up against it, what does the General have left to spank it?

HA-HA - Great point on the TT, but then your car would like every other C-5 out there and there are plenty out there! The appeal to me of a Viper is that you don't see one every day and when you start modding them, the HP gets up there.

Guys, this really shouldn't be a surprise. I heard an estimated 425 for the '03 Z06 when the 02 Z06's were just rolling out.

Guys, this really shouldn't be a surprise. I heard an estimated 425 for the '03 Z06 when the 02 Z06's were just rolling out.
I also heard many rumors of 400hp for the 2001 Z06 before it came out.

If that does happen I think there will be a hit out on Dave Hill and company. That is rediculous if they are hiding it to sell 02's. I knew I should have bought a new viper! :lol:

I'm not referring to the official press releases just like noone here is referring to official press releases. I'm talking about the rumors that were floating around prior to the official introduction. Don't you recall how everyone was a little disappointed with the 385hp number since we all expected more?

I hear you JW.... I had to wrestle with Z06 versus 'vert, and I realized two things:
1) I would spend less time racing the car than enjoying the wind through what's left of my hair.
2) I could always bolt on power-adders so I could go toe-to-toe with a Z06 later, but I'd be hard pressed to cut a Z06's top to turn it into a 'vert as cheaply!

I have said this in previous post. When I bought my 99 in Nov 98 I was told 385, 405, 425-435. The hardtop only high performance 6 speed model, and lighter weight vehicle with thinner body panels and windshield which didn't pan out totally. I find this 435 easy to take the bank. The bigger dealers sit on a Corvette board and give input to GM and know what the future holds.
