Curious about dropping a few pounds off my C5. I have no idea where to start with this car and don't want to give up many creature comforts.... with that being said, I don't even no if there is anything to do without spending a ton of light seats, etc. But let me know what you guys are doing! I have a full option coupe, drive the car everyday, etc.

So you want to shave weight off the car, but don't want to give up any creature comforts, or spend money on lightweight seats, rims, etc?
Jegs used to offer a magic wand for this type of thing, but I think they are out of stock....
I'll check that sticky out. I have some light wheels for the track, 17 wagons all around but I still have the runflats up front, I'll have to ditch those!
i weigh 165. im going to start with battery, ditching front runflats.then going to lighten the brakes, what would you suggest here? also, need thoughts on a lightweight clutch/flywheel. ive heard good things nd bad about launching a car with one, they bog it down? less inertia is what ive heard. thanks!
Lightweight clutch will save some on weight, but its the rotary inertia that makes the biggest difference as the motor will spin up faster. It will take some getting used to but I found the adjustment to be rather quick.
What do you plan to do with your vette once you reduce its weight - road racing, drag racing, or something else? Sounds like you plan to keep it as a "daily driver", so you might want to do a basic Cost/Benefit analysis (parts and labor) for modifications.
Is it really worth swaping good OEM parts for lighter parts, etc.?? IMHO, you're better off leaving it alone if you don't plan to put your vette on the track and realize the benefits of a 100 pounds or so. Many of us on your thread do HPDE and look for weight savings.
Well I suppose there isnt much I can do for weight reduction. Like I said in my first post, I wasn't sure if there was too much I could do but I figured I'd post up and find out. I do not want to ditch many if any creature comforts so with that being said, looks like I can only save a few pounds with....
lightweight battery, changing out front runflats, going to a lighter brake set-up (What would you suggest here?) POSSIBLY lightweight clutch/flywheel (Need to learn/read up more on this) and possibly something lighter for seats.
DOes anyone know if a C6Z seat is going to be any lighter than the C5 sports? My drivers side skin is showing some wear so I think I'm going to do something with seats, just not sure what yet. Thanks!
Also I plan on 1/4 mile racing, would like to try out auto-x however, have never done it before and would be a good chance to test out these new pfadt coilovers
