Default Electrical nightmare...

I'll try to be brief and to the point. Please comment with your experiences pertaining to my post. thanks!

Went out of town on business for 1 week. Was having my garage floor redone (surfaced) Z06 was out in the elements. It rained HARD all week, get home to drive my car and it starts throwing all of these codes, windows work off/on, seat works off/on, when they want to.

Pulled all of the codes, and deleted them. pulled the carpet back behind the seat, truck area and left the car in the sun all yesterday.. There was alot of moisture! drove the car today and get the ABS,TCS, reduced engine power. Car runs/drives fine...

With regard to the ABS,TCS, i will do the ABS fixer.com thing..

Your thoughts/opinions welcome.

Thank you... oh and yes,i have done a search and have gotten all kinds of great info.. Just wanted some of your personal experiences.

thank you..

Is the passenger footwell wet? If so, the BCM probably is as well.

Sounds like you could have a wetted BCM If the jute underlayment under the carpet is wet/damp, it will cause that type of issue.

The drivers seat is also a clue. The connector for the seat contains a serial data wire. If it is compromised, it too can cause serial data bus issues. Pull that connector and see if any of the other things clear up.

Another serial data corruption point is the connectors for the door wiring harnesses. Pop out the accordion tubes on both doors and pull the connectors out of the door frame (body side) pocket. Separate the connectors and check the pins for damage/corrosion/moisture.

Man,i love this websight! Actually found the connectors inside the R/L door frames, but was afraid to pull them out to unhook,view...

I did however, pull them out just enough to look @ em, and they do not seem to be wet. Also pulled the panel on the pass side to view the BCM.. it was not wet itself, but i am willing to be there was moisture in there last week.

I did start the car after i viewed both connectors and what do you know.. NO CODES this time!! Friggin incredible... unpluged the connector under my drivers seat and reconnected it, gues what, it is now operable.. You guy's are great! thank you so much... Until next time...

THANK YOU!

This problem is likely to resurface. Sounds like you have it isolated, but inspection of the wiring in the accordian tube is warranted.

It would be advisable to read the “Leaks” sticky at the top of C5 Tech.

It is a long read, but can be of great help in keeping the many drains open, (HVAC, Windshield Cowl – both sides) Also pay attention to the door hinge attaching points water can enter there too.

Keeping water out of the passenger compartment, especially away from the BCM, IPC Fuse Panel, seat module under the seat, and various sensors, will keep the gremlins away.

All this and more is covered in the leaks sticky.
