Ok dummy here, what's tech 2? I know computer but dealer only ? my dealer will not disable the f45. I have however made the resistor by pass and installed on one wheel. So far no codes or restrictions. I have also ordered the C6 upgrade shock. I plan to install the remaining 3 resistors on the other wheels when the parts arrive. From my understanding of electronics. the ride sensor is basically a voltage divider. I have calculated the size resistor needed 10 ohm 10 watt and made up one plug in. I left the height sensor alone. O also disassembled one shock and found the electro magnet that modulates the pintel valve to control the shock. I measured the resistance and found 12 ohms. This is within 10% of the my calculated value. From my understanding if the resistor is plugged in to replace the electro magnet, the computer can not tell if it is a shock or electro magnet and therefore should not throw a code. I will know more as I build the next three resistor set up and install the new shocks. So who has Tech 2?
The Tech 2 is the GM programming tool that is required to change the BCM RPO codes. It can also make changes to the PCM so long as they were originally allowed by GM. It is primarily used for diagnostics to pull up very specific data going on in the car.
A lot of us have a Tech 2. I bought mine from China for about $500.

Mr. Sam
I have an accutron reader that does cars from 84 to current unfortunately it won't go into the BCM to make changes. Hopefully my resistor mod will work. More to come. Thanks again.
There are MANY garages and repair shops that have the TECH2. They are usually willing to delete the RPO for a LOT less that any STEALERSHIP.
There are TONs of forum members that have there OWN Tech 2s. I myself have one and I remove the RPO Codes. Usually do it over LUNCH.
See if you can find someone in your area that is willing to help you...
Put a request in the C5 Parts for sale/wanted section.
When you use SIMULATORS to trick the system,,, You have to maintain the entire system and hope it doesn't have any other issues. If it does, you will be back in the same boat..

I built the simulators and installed both on the front with new zo6 shocks. Drives like on rails all the squeak from worn shocks are gone. I will do rears next week. The current system has my 2 home made simulators on front with conventional shocks and 2 F45 still on the rear. The computer cant' tell any difference. I used the plug and lead from a 2 nd set of F45 shocks and kept the same mount points. My system is durable so I am not expecting any issues. What is encouraging is how much more precise the steering and how quiet the car has become.

There is a little more to turning off the F45 than shown in that link. It shows how to get to the correct menu but not the things you have to do in order to make the delete permanent. Here are the steps:
1. Hook up Tech 2, turn car on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option (F55 does not appear on the menu screen, use F45).
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn car off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in. [leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in]
5. Turn off car, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.
8. Unplug Tech 2.

A couple of comments/recommendations:
The F-45 and F-55 Suspension systems are based on the C5 Base Suspension. You can significantly enhance your handling by installing better Z-51 or the ZO6 sway bars and metal sway bar end links. If you wanted to make it a complete OEM handling package, replace the base springs with the up-graded Z-51 or ZO6 springs.
Look in the C5 Parts For Sale/Wanted for good used parts or call Marc at VETTENUTS. He has just about every C5/C6 part known to man! Very good, recycled parts for good prices.
There is a rubber bushing on the passenger's end of the steering rack that mounts that the rack end to the cradle. They make a Derlin aftermarket replacement bushing to replace that soft rubber bushing and that firms up the steering feel/responsiveness.
.
More handling tips: The C5 tunnel plate is a very thin stamped steel sheet metal plate. If you replace the C5 plate with a C6 plate (which is thicker), it will stiffen the body up a bit. OR You can stack two C5 plates on top of each other. OR You could go aftermarket 1/4" thick aluminum plate and the longer fasteners.
If you do nothing else to the tunnel plate, at least check the tightness of the fasteners in your OEM plate that is installed currently. I frequently find them loose and or missing.
Hope this helps
