Hey I've read every post on here and chased down every link and still I have a question....
I want to take off F45. (besides do some other diagnostics) But especially I want to do the programming to take off F45.
The $328 listing for 6569556134 says:
TIS2000 dongle to access SPS/Security features (Note: but you need add 50$ cost for the TIS2000 Dongle)
Also one of the reviews says you need the dongle. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/GM-TE...398940053.html
Thanks for the information. I think I'm going to buy one.
There is a little more to turning off the F45 than shown in that link. It shows how to get to the correct menu but not the things you have to do in order to make the delete permanent. Here are the steps:
1. Hook up Tech 2, turn car on, make sure module in the rear is plugged in. Do not unplug the rear module.
2. Use Tech 2 to delete the F45 option (F55 does not appear on the menu screen, use F45).
3. Save new configuration.
4. Do not turn car off, do not remove Tech 2. Go to the module in the rear of the car, unplug the grey connector (the widest one), leave any other plug(s) in. [leave the other 1 (F45) or 2 (F55) plugged in]
5. Turn off car, leave Tech 2 plugged in.
6. Remove remaining plugs from module in the rear of car. [never plug them back in again, if you do the F45 turns on automatically]
7. Turn car on to verify the "max speed 80 mph" is gone.
8. Unplug Tech 2.
I need to do some debugging on my hvac, cruise, driver side window controls, memory function, and traction control. Hoping one of these will help with that too...

Thanks for that. I told a guy I would delete his F45 in the few weeks when he is back in town. Your timing is prefect!!!!!!
I ordered the same SP23-C that Last C5 and Daderoo have. Ordered it from CareUcar with the case. I ordered on April 14, it shipped on the 16th, and to my suprise was delivered on Monday evening. I've been out of town for a while, but have had an opportunity to do the self tests, etc. i do have lots of questions, but I think as I "mess" withit a little more, that'll all come clear. To be clear, I've never seen a Tech2 before. But after looking this over and handling it, my only complaint is a not-quite-tight enough fit between the wall-mount power supply's connector, and its recepticle at the bottom of the Tech2. Overall the equipment quality is what I would expect of a service department tool. I say this based on familiarity via my Sun engine analyzer and distributor testing machines.

I found that connection to be a little loose too. However the only time I figured I would ever use it was when I was setting it up on the kitchen table. Have never used it since and doubt I ever will.
Mine came in the mail today. Worked great for taking off the F45.
The module in the bottom of the unit is a little finicky. If it's not in there just right, the display goes all checkerboard and plaid, and is unreadable. Wiggle the module and it comes back. But this is the module where the obd2 cable plugs in, so it's going to get wiggled in normal use. (reminds me of the old Atari game cartridges you had to blow on and reinsert a few times to get the game to work after the cartridge got some age on it)
I love having my 'vette no longer neutered though.

Should not be loose at the connection. Try releasing the latch on the Interface Module at the bottom and re=insert it and see if that helps.

That's exactly what I ended up doing. A couple of times. After the second time I also applied alternating thumb pressure to the corners and it finally cleared up. I was just extra careful not to sway it any more after that, at least not until I got my F45 gone.
If it's still acting up this weekend in normal use, I'll contact the seller and see what we can work out.
I want to get in there and play around in the menus some more, and see what else I can poke around in. I'm pretty sure I'm going to turn off the tpms, and just not buy tpms sensors from here on out. (helps justify the cost of the tech2...) And see if I can use it to help diagnose some other bugs like intermittent windows and dead hvac.
Hey, anyone that bought a China Tech2, are you still happy with it? Which company did you get it from? Any more info you could give me before my purchase?

I haven't used mine since I took off my F45. It worked great for that.

I got a Tech2 last year from careucar.com. Yes, I'm extremely happy with it. I use it regularly with no problems.

Went over to mesa reds house to see his tech 2. This is just like the ones I worked with as a tech. I will be getting one soon!
I read all these posts, and decided to get one from careucar the sp23-c it costed $339 + 150.70 shipping. I used paypal to pay.Arrived in 5 days and as far as I can see it seems to work. Well worth the $500.
And then after a couple of weeks screwing around with it. I find that in order to use the tis2000 that comes with the tech 2 you need a computer with windows xp professional, and a rs232 9 pin output. MY opinion I will eventually get this going, although I'm not sure if you need a subscription to GM.
However I have to add that , not liking to trust car repairs to the dealership, this tech 2 clone makes me like my car alot better, as the repair manual seems to be almost useless without a tech 2. Not being able to program the modules if I gotta replace one is only a minor inconvenience. Taking it back to the dealer every time a sensor or relay goes bad doesn't sound so good.

Well, I'm posting a BUYER BEWARE addition to this thread to advise others contemplating a purchase to ask here first. If you walk back through these threads you will find I bought one from the ALIEXPRESS vendor , NO. Auto Diagnostic Tool store. If you back up to threads around the first of this year, you can find where I started posting.
Very early in my ownership I began to have problems with the Tech 2. Finally after a couple weeks the keyboard died and would not pass the POST (power on self test).
I wrote to the vendor and he agreed to repair my keyboard if I would send it back. I did at an additional cost to me of $60. I shipped it back and began a message process to the vendor, which eventually stopped. The vendor has never returned my keyboard and has not replied for some time. I filed a complaint with ALIEXPRESS, but again silence.
So, at this time, I suggest anyone considering buying a clone tech 2 be very cautious and avoid any vendor that will not specifically stand by the quality of their product. Personally, I will not buy from any ALIEXPRESS vendor until this issue is resolved. Also, if you do decide to buy from ALIEXPRESS be sure to read their policy about receipt and acknowledgement. Apparently when you receive an item you should verify functionality before pushing the accept button. Once you do that, the vendors feel they no longer have an obligation to you.
