Hello,
Do you know if you can continue to drive the car after you remove the EBCM module? Or should you let it sit?
I am about to remove my EBCM and I am wondering if I can do this and then drive my car home from the shop I do it at or should I leave it at the shop while the EBCM is getting fixed?
Yes...You will not have ABS/TC and you need to cover the other electronic unit attached to it to prevent water and crap from getting in there. I think its called the BPMV or something like that.
it's only 6 screws and 2 electrical plugs, not hard to do yourself if that's all the shop is going to do, but yes you can drive with out it, just no ABS/TC/AH. and you should do something to protect the electrical connections.
WOW! The Job takes 15 min tops START to FINISH. I wouldnt even worry about a heated garage. I changed one on the rain once out in my drive way!
There are no electronics in the BPMV. Theres a pad and I think 16 small metal spindles that project out of the pad. Its all sealed and nothing to damage. The spindles fit inside coils in the EBTCM and the coils pull or push poppet valves inside the spindles I would just slap some duct tape over the spindles to keep it clean and bag the two connectors in a plactic zip lock bag. The connectors are more important to keep clean.

My mistake , I was thinking electronic body control module, by the way, I have a ABS box laying around the shop that we took off of our race car if anyone needs one.
What they said, Very easy install. If its your first time , you can have the old ECBM off the car within 30 min. If you send the unit to the ABSFIXER you can have it back within a week for about $150. You can still drive the car, but it would feel like youve got drum brakes all around.
OK, thanks for the reference shots above...just need to rant!! Removal is simple... but not easy..
Deff didn't take me 15 mins to remove. My damn 1/4 drive extensions were both JUST the right length to position the ratchet adjacent to the power steering line and the electrical cable which connects to the EBCM... and thank god my car is white or else my fenders would be marked to ***** after trying to get down in there...
so yea... easy and quick no... ive swapped 2 sets of 8 lug wheels between my duramax and 6.0 sierra quicker... it was almost as bad as dealing with a emissions controls under the intake on a DOHC straight 6 bmw..
oh well. still love my vette. maybe its time for some torx drivers other then my 1/4" drive set.
