Default Bad Harmonic Balancer..Need help

So today i noticed a burnt oil smell coming from my car.. i lifted the rear end up..saw no oil leaks at all.. then i figured out my jack wouldnt fit under the front so i started the engine to see if i could see anything anyway...

I saw no oil leaks but i did notice a very slight wobble in the harmonic balancer pulley.. I believe the oil is coming through the bad seal..

Is it better to buy OEM or buy an upgraded pulley? if so which?

ANd how hard is this job to do?

Thanks

Don't waste your time with another OEM balancer pulley - I had them fail on me too. You want to buy a Powerbond 10% UD pulley. The quality is excellent, reasonable price and will not fail you. I am very happy with mine and I push my vette to the limits on the road courses. Good luck.

The exact same thing happened to me. I let my son drive my ZO6 for 2 weeks upon his return from 15 months in Iraq. When I got it back the ENTIRE bottom of the car was oil soaked.

I was ready to beat some ****. Then I figured out where the oil was coming from:

Bad timing Cover seal and damper sealing surface. Nothing that he did to cause it to fail!

Get ya a POWER BOND damper!

You will NOT be sorry! Very quality piece that will withstand a beating!

I love mine!!

I have some wobble as well but no burnt oil smell. Is a little wobble normal? Had a squeak but replaced the tensioner pulley and threw on a gatorback belt. No squeaks now that I can hear but still a little wobble??
