Do a search in the autocrossing and roadracing section and you'll find lots of info. I've used Kumho Ecsta MXs, Falken Azenis 615s and now I've got Nitto 555RIIs.
The Azenis seemed to hold up to heat from lapping a little better than the Kuhmos. Both did a pretty job, especially for the price.
The Nittos are considered an R compound tire and have a treadwear rating of 100 where as the other two are around 200. They Nittos have significantly more grip on the street than the other two, but I haven't run them on the track yet. I find them fine on the street and have used them in light rain. Seem to be wearing well too.
The Nitto's were a perfect choice for me when I wanted to graduate from a street tire. I ran nearly an entire season with them too. I definately recommend them. The 275/305 combo is fantastic.
