Your goal is to get more Cool air to the intake. The easiest method is to drill some holes in the fog light surrounds. There are other methods such as replacing the front license plate frame with a screen panel but this is much more expensive.

The front plate mod screen can be done for $8 for screen and rubber edging. I did it in less than an hour with a utility knife. Before my supercharger install it dropped my intake temps and water temps as well.

The front screens are nice but here's a method that reduces rain water and is not visible from the outside..I did this one..works great. Give it a few seconds, its a pdf.

The problems with drilling the fog light panels:

a) It is not easy to make the holes look aligned.
b) Rocks and other objects can damage internal surfaces.
c) If you do use screens, the fog lights will diffuse and hence, be "weakened".

That's the easiest thing to do, although I didn't want to diffuse the fog lights so I did the CAI mod in the link posted by Paully. The advantage with this mod is that the "scoop" channels air directly into and past the air filter, whereas the fog light panel holes mix with hot air (not as direct).

AND makes the HOOD like a parachute. and slows the car down.

Does the OP want MORE air VOLUME or faster velocity with lower air pressure going into the intake ??

Drilling holes in the fog area will cause a little more front end lift at high speeds, I would not recommend it.

If you remove the rubber hood gasket up by the windshield that will allow the air someplace to exit and not cause the lift issue. It will also drop the temps under the hood some. We're talking mega high speeds before lift is even an issue.

When you do, get some 3M VHB tape and apply to the scoop's flange before bolting it to the lower radiator shroud. This will help distribute stresses that would normally be concentrated around the area surrounding the bolt holes.

The z06's come factory with screens to allow air in this area. Don't see too many of them getting airborne. If it is a concern cut a little rubber from the hood seal and it will allow pressure to escape.
