Here is why I don't like to do my own work. I took the throttle body off my car to paint it. Easy, 3 bolts, a couple of electrical connects and a hose. I clean it all up, tape it all up and painted it. As I'm painting it I'm asking myself, what hoses get connected to the 2 lower pipes that are on the lower portion of the throttle body? I don't remember disconnecting any other hose but the one on top. I looked at the car and don't see any hoses that would have come from these pipes.
YES! There used to flow coolant thru the throttle body to prevent TB Icing. Its not really needed. Hell, I live in CT and drive my car in all sorts of cold weather and have never had an icing issue.
The C6 TB doesn't even have a coolant passage. Guess GM wised up.
You can put a rubber cap on them if it makes you feel any better but, it just a coolant passage that isn't needed.
