Default ***wtf fast?***

I purchased this FAST 92 from Hinson Super Cars in Mid-Jan. Today I was finishing my CAM/Intake swap and found the brass inserts that hold down the fuel rail are missing on the Drivers side. Called FAST, FAST saide call Hinson, Hinson said they had to call FAST.

In the mean time I have to get this together and tuned for a trip on Friday. Something better happen quick. Let's see who resolves this and how quick.

Suppose to look like this (Pass side)

Driver side looks like this.

Until you get it resolved, I would drill a small hole in two of the intake hold down fastener heads and just use some lockwire to secure that side of the rail to the manifold. It should work fine for your trip!

What do you think? When you get your resolution from WHO EVER, no harm to the manifold if you have to send it back.

Thanks Bill. I'll keep that as a last resort.

2 options.

1. Over night me a FAST 92 top shell.

2. Over night me a FAST 102 and required hardware to work with stock fuel rails if no 92 shells are available. Shells aren't interchangeable.

Still waiting for Hinson to call me back...

In my opinion, it's not your responsibility to contact FAST. Hinson sold you the defective part.

I was just trying to take all the middle man crap out of it but seems like I have to do it anyway.

No idea what's taking so long. In 10 minutes this morning I spoke to someone at FAST and someone at HINSON. How long does it take to figure this out?

Perhaps they can just send you the inserts and you can install them without removing the intake.

That's another reason why I called FAST first. Better chance they may have them laying around. FAST Tech guy stated that they were molded into the shell and can't be pressed in.

I wouldn't have a problem doing that if the price for these was realistic. But since they charge a premium then I should get what I pay for. If FASTS want to portray their product as the cats *** then they should provide the entire cats ***.

Not sure the treaded in would have the same strength as the molded in inserts,

Get back on the phone and press for an immediate resolution. Talk to the top dog incharge. Business is probably slow enough without bad press. Good luck

Anyway you slice it, just **** poor customer service from FAST. You purchased a manifold from one of their distributors, and now you have a manufacturing defect. FAST should have taken the issue and ran with it, to resolve the problem immediately.......and then worked out the details with Hinson.

The customer should not have to do all the leg work.

Called Hinson back. They say they are waiting to hear back from COMP (Who owns FAST now). Doesn't seem to be any sense of urgency on Hinson's part. I guess it's not their car tore apart. They have no skin in the game.

If it was my customer I'd have my *** on the phone with COMP/FAST until I got a resolution. It's really that simple.

Is Comp even open today? Is this manifold out of the box or ported?

Just got off the phone with Robin at COMP and he is going to go grab me an upper shell personally and overnite it to me.

We'll see if that happens but it's a lot better than waiting on Hinson.

Damn shame I have to deal with this but like I said I'm up against a timeline and I seem to be the only one that cares. Well and now Robin...

I'll update later if I hear different.

Sarge - We regret that you received a defective part. As you are aware, we do not make the intake and were only trying to help you get a resolution. FAST could have been more helpful for you on the first call, but to their credit, they did step up and take care of you. The measure of the company should be the fact that they made it right and overnighted it.

I'm glad to see that you found a resolution. We will call off the hounds from our side. Let us know if you need anything else to get ready for your trip.

TIP - There is a web of rubber gasket that seals the runners to the upper shell. Be careful not to tear this when separating the pieces. It is a good idea to put a dab on silicone on the gasket joints where FAST did during the construction.

I think you have it wrong. The part was bought from Hinson. Hinson should have immediately said we will ship you a new one and pay for returning the old one. Then Hinson could have taken it up with FAST.
If I buy a part from you I expect you to take care of any problems.

Thanks for the reply Brian. To be honest Hinson should have been the ones calling an making sure this got resolved. And stayed on it until it was resolved. Doesn't sound like you have too many hounds to call off since the response from Hinson was "We have to wait to hear from COMP". It should have been that you weren't getting off the phone with COMP until they gave you the answer.

Yeah I'm aware of the web of gaskets inside the shell as it's part of the install to remove the shell and make sure they are still in there proper locations.
