Looks like I will be pulling the heads off my LS6 this weekend.
Is there a particular sequence to loosening the bolts that I need to follow to safely do this ? I am wondering if I should find the torque sequence and just follow it or is it necessary.
Good luck with the power steering and alt bracket. The power steering line uses an 18mm wrench. The flare wrench I used kept spreading so a regular wrench was used and worked great.
Also, the bottom edges of the heads (that touch the block) are like razors. I got a nasty slice lifting the head away from the engine. Wear gloves and/or be careful.
Also, there is a bolt on the back of the passenger head that has a loop holding the wiring harness and it's a royal pain, I believe it's 13mm. Also the ground strap on the back of the drivers head isn't easy either.
Thanks for the feedback guys I played it safe and did the reverse torque order. I managed to get the job done without a trip to the hospital for stitches and I only cussed a few times !
I took the ps pump and alt bracket off because it was all going to be polished. I guess I didn't pay attention to the fact of just sliding them forward for head removal. Sorry for the bad advice. :o
I've got one cylinder head pocket ported and the exterior fully polished. I'm working on the ps pump and then alt bracket before I tackle the other head.
