I have an 01 Z06, im looking to put in a 180 or 160 t-stat. What do you guys recommend and where would you get it from? Summitracing seems to have no selection.

Thanks!

Not sure what you are doing, but the stock unit can be easily modified to open at different (lower) temperatures for less then $1.

If all you are looking to do is change your t-stat without a tune than save your money and leave the stock one in. You will not show any difference of max water temps with just a change of your t-stat.

I changed my t-stat to a 160 degree and had a tune to reset the fans and now my car has never gone over 195 degrees.

Simple mod. Link

Note that I ended up using the 0.058" shim and the car runs pretty much at 180 on a cool night.

With a stock radiator and the stock thermostat shimmed .062, I cruised up I-95 last June from SC to CT with a constant 183-185 degree coolant temp.

I made the shim from .062 sheet Teflon using a leather punch.

I you have any need for heat, I'd stick with the 180 degree stat and tune your fans accordingly. 160 will be luke warm at best on a 40 degree or colder day.

I replaced the stocker with a 160 last summer from MAM. Also adjusted the fans with a Diablo tuner. MAM price is about $40. Its all good.
