Default 2 bad cylinders, #2 and #7 - why?

Does anyone know why 2 cylinders would have gone bad in an LS1? Motor was tuned and thought to be bullet proof. The car was tracked for about a year (15 total track days). Comp cam, roller rockers, heavier springs, AFI heads -- all set up to run. Could it have been a bad tune? Bad parts? Curious on the experts opinions.

What does "bad" mean? I would not be surprised at #7 & 8.....but #7 & #2 ..no correlation there.

Last guy with this had bent pushrods and kissed the pistons by overev'ing.

#7 may have or be oiling and or cooling issues.
But what do you mean by bad?

Default computer check said misfire on #7 and #2

When the mechanic looked at it with a camera, they said shavings were found in the #7 cylinder. I was tracking the car, but not at top end...probably 70%. The recommendation is to replace the motor -- won't know specifics until next week. Either way, we need to drop the motor and in that case, the dollars start to escalate.

Thanks BC. We'll do that on Monday. I'll update once I know more. Is it common to have a cylinder go bad? I thought these motors practically never failed.

These engines are stout. Its the little things that are the weaker links..... roller bearings in the lifters, roller bearings in the rockers and the valve springs arent the best on some of these LS6 engines. Not sure if the valve spring problems were evident on LS1's

Drag strip or Road Course for tracking?

If road course was there a high speed left hand sweeper, or any HARD left hand corners ?

and what track ?
