Default exhaust question

I did a search but didn't find anything. Has anyone tried to bolt up a C6 Z06 exhaust on their C5? I have a couple of sets and was wondering about it. Thanks.

You would have to do some major mod'ng. C6 muffler is mounted longitudinally and the C5 laterally plus the C6 is shorter.

Why are folks constantly trying to "bolt up" C6 parts to their C5's when they obviously don't fit a C5? Nor were they designed for the application. There are plenty of aftermarket C5 parts available to properly mod your car.

It will fit. Get out your SAWSALL or chain saw and cut out that silly center compartment that was designed for a spare tire that doesnt exist and cut it out. Then the mufflers will fit there. Then shorten the pipes about 3"

See, wasnt that easy?

Because this "folk" was wondering since I had 2 sets laying around. And this "folk" knows very well that it wasn't designed for a C5 but they weren't designed for a LS2 either but they sure do work well on my car and sound great!

I guess I should have been more clear. Not the mufflers. I know they won't work for what I'm trying to do. I guess the specific question should be if the manifolds, cat pipes, and mid pipe will bolt up and work.

Thanks for any HELPFUL info.

I guess you have lots of time to kill on something that's a total fabrication. Why do you ask a question if you already think you have the answer. Good luck and happy fabricating. Be sure and post your results in a couple of years when you get it done!

I'm not exactly sure why I chapped your lips so bad over my simple little question. Do you also have issues with people that put LS6 intakes on LS1 engines? How about LS2 heads on an LS1? Neither of those were designed for an LS1 but a lot of people sure seem to do the swap. I'll attempt to explain this again.

I have (2) Z06 exhaust systems. One with mufflers, one without. The set without mufflers is the one I want to put on the C5. I realize the mufflers won't work. I knew that beforehand.

As for having lots of time to kill, I don't. No more than the next person. What I do have is more experience than most on tearing down C5 and C6 Corvettes. I won't have to "kill" any time.

I asked the question because....I didn't know the answer. That's why. Why do you ask questions? I don't have all the answers, do you? If so, congratulations!

This forum has been very helpful to me over the years, save a handful of people. I've also tried to give back when I can to those that need help. That's what a lot of this forum is about. So thanks to those that have always tried to be helpful and constructive.

To those that don't understand what people like me are doing and why they do it to their cars....maybe you're just not meant to understand! Sorry such a simple yes or no question upset you so bad.

If you are doing it just to be doing it,have fun.I see very little reward for the effort though.

I would think a set of eyes and a tape measure would tell you rather quickly if it's a "Bolt in".

I would be doing it as an upgrade, not just to be doing it. I did the same thing to my 07 and it runs and sounds great, even though I am running the Z06 mufflers and wouldn't be able to on the C5.

Sure, if I had a set of longtube headers for a C5 laying around, I'd put them on and be done with it. That's neither the case, nor the question. All I was wondering is if somebody had done it and if so, how they liked it. I wasn't asking whether it SHOULD be done or not because that's debatable and I don't want to get into that. If I'm the first and only, that's ok. Won't be the first time.
