[QUOTE=vettenuts;1574949507]To the OP, the lift of your cam has me very suspicious it was a Crane grind and not a Comp. All the Cranes used 0.551" lift on the lobes. QUOTE]

It might be crane, I can't find any evidence for why I thought it was comp.
I guess I'll plan on ls6 cam with ls6 beehive springs and ls7 lifters.

Maybe I should have said most rather then all. They had an article in one of their monthly technical papers on why the lift was 0.551", not sure if I still have it though.

If the OP wants to stay with stock size cam, buy it from any of the forum supporters that sell the GM Performace products. The cams are process checked to meet hardness and other requirements.
I would be careful with that recommendation, we just had a GMPP cam fail in 20,000 miles, Caddy lifters, and Manley Springs, hardness was suspect due to the flakes comming off the lobe surface. Still looking for a better solution for cam manufacturer for this car.

Most lifter failures don't have anything to do with the lifter, it has everything to do with the wrong spring on the car.

You bounce a lifter a few times, it's going to fail.
