i have noticed my rear diff is single tracking when i go around corners fast? if the rear slides out, it single tracks? (one wheel spins) is this nornal?
Since it's a limited slip, I would say to a degree...yes, but it is also very common for the clutch springs in the rear to be broken. I know a few rear end builders and I've never heard of one coming apart with original springs where the springs weren't toast. The GM replacement clutches and springs are better than the originals and should make it better.
the car was real tight when i got it, but i have been driving in competition mode on exit ramps on the gas, letting the rear slide out (drifting). it acts like it breaks one tire lose (inside), in stead of spinning both? im going to a 3:42 diff soon anyway, just wanted to know if i broke something or if it was normal to loosen up
mabee i need to stiffin up the sway bars, less body roll
In competition mode the brake is going to be applied to one of the rear wheels, which may be causing what you're describing.
If you want to slide the rear out take ALL the nannies off. It'll save brake pads as well. Note that all rules of physics still apply, as well as those of self preservation.

Jack up the rear of the car and support the body on stands. Put the car in Nuteral. Have someone HOLD one rear wheel while you attempt to rotate the other wheel. It will or should take about 75-80 ft/lbs to rotate that wheel.
IF,,you find that the wheel is easily rotated, you have worn clutches, or a broken Belleview spring.
I did an eighty foot burnout and noticed that the right rear tire black mark looked a lot different than the LEFT. When I up-graded my rear end with C6 ZO6 output shafts, i found a broken spring and worn clutches on the right output shaft.
Here are a couple of post that will allow you to see how the rear works and how easy it is to make it more surviveable to high performance abuse! My broken spring pictures are in that post.
It's pretty common to see broken springs on a stock C5 diff with some miles on it. My personal diff had broken springs on both sides when I took it apart. Now it has all the C6 Z06 guts and puts down nice even patches.

Have a good one,
Mike
i didn't think of that, thanks. my car only has 26k miles so hopefully nothings broke YET. but i will upgrade the rear diff before DEC.
im still gettin 2 good even blk marks on the burnouts

Yes, it could be normal. In a corner, greater weight is transferred to the outside wheel, so it will tend to maintain greater
traction while the inside wheel spins.
Upgrade springs and clutch packs, and the same thing may happen. The clutches tend to lock the wheels at the same speed. They need to move at different speeds in a corner. If the inside wheel is spinning wildly in relation to the outside wheel, you may have a problem.
