Default C5 backfiring
I just purchased a '00 corvette. The problem I'm having is that it backfires on deceleration. The previous owner told me this is normal due to the exhaust system that was installed on it. It consist of Kooks headers followed by 3" pipes that go back to the tips. Although I like the sound when I accelerate, the backfiring is driving me crazy. No pun intended. Is there a fix for this or do I live with it?

Normal with after market mods.

the back fire and or pop-n-gurgle sound on decel may be unburnt fuel going into the exhaust, then igniting.

Live with it.

Do you mean backfiring or exhaust burble?
A motorboat like sound on deceleration is common with many headers...

You have no mufflers, its gonna be loud foot down or up

Just make sure that you don't have an exhaust leak somewhere. It can also cause a crackle and pop on deceleration.
