ceramic on exhaust manifolds
Does anyone know how hot a stock ex manifold would get on a 2001 Z06 with an STS twin turbo set up? I have a client that wants them ceramic coated and I'm trying to figure out what temp coating he's requires.

So he wants to ceramic coat the exhaust manifolds, for heat concerns, even though the turbos are in the back of the car?

Yes. They have been sitting for a while and need to be cleaned up and ceramic works for him. I'm just not sure if 1200F coating is enough.

Perhaps you can contact a company that does this every day, like Jethot......

I've been running 1200 F ceramic coating on my track car's Dynamaxes for 3 years now without a problem. They're much easier to work around when the engine is hot and they still look like new.

If your going to use the Stock manifolds, i recommend some porting before you sen them out. They can benefit from some entry and exit opening clean up. You can also smooth some of the exterior casting flashing.

All I really need to know is hot hot the exhaust manifold gets. I have a few different ceramics in stock, the client would like black. The only black that I have right now is 1200F, I just want to know if the manifold gets that hot?

Have him go do some hard pulls, stop pop the hood and see. IR or probe thermometer will work.

That would be the easiest way but:
1) It's winter here
2) The car is apart

Anyone have any idea of the temp. I'd like to do the job next week.

what about buying some all ready coated LTs ?

I have Ceramic Coated TPiS LTs - helps keep the heat out of the cockpit, somewhat.
