I have 48k on the '02 and it sounds like from the article that the '02 shocks were already revised a bit from the '01 and earlier cars.
mine were good to about 110k, then they started getting really bad. i have a set of 04 z06 sachs shocks in the garage waiting to be installed this spring.
I agree that most likely, the Bilsteins will outlast any OEM shocks that aren't Bilsteins to begin with. I've read many times that if your C5 came with the Z51 option, then the Bilstein Sports are better matched than are the HDs. However, before I buy mine, I will call the folks at Bilstein.
