Default Cleaning EBCM/BPMV

Took EBCM off and noticed 4 of the protruding parts (don't know correct term) coming out of the BPMV seem to be slightly rusted. It mostly rubs off with a dry rag. What can be used to clean these? Could this be the problem with the active handling, ABS codes?

There POPPET VALVES.. Some are shut and some are open. When the Electronic Coil that fits over them is energized, the valve inside the little fingers changes state. There just mild steel shells. Any metal polish and a scrubbing pad can remove the corrosion.

MAKE SURE that the rubber gasket between the two modules seals up the two modules. The module electronic board inside the EBTCM is actually open to the space between the EBTCM/BPMV. If moisture is getting in between the modules, thats NOT good. I used some black silicone RTV on the gasket to help make the seal water tight.

IMHO, the corrosion will NOT cause any issues as long as it not severly corroded causing a brake fluid leak thru the tube shell.

^ Nice info.

I just put mine back together after polishing... I used some black RTV as the seal seems to be partially imbedded in the halves and that gasket was kinda rough looking. Plus the fact I wanted to fix the 1214 code made the project worth while.

There are concaved nodules and rounded nodules protruding out of the BPMV and all the concaved nodules are coroded. All of the protruding nodules are spotless. I'm hoping a good cleaning will solve my issues. Bill, I read alot of your posts and you are greatly appreciated. Thanks for the info.

Gross stuff...

I would get a mild scotchbrite pad from Autozone and WD-40... should take care of the rust with about 20 minutes of work... then moisten a cloth with motor oil (wd-40 will evaporate) and leave the lightest film possible as a long term protectant...

Then seal it up the best you can.
