Default C5 Exhaust Note

Hi All,

I've been looking to upgrade the exhaust of my C5. I've been listening to videos on youtube to try to decide which systems I like, but it's always hard trying to catch real audio through the computer. Ideally, my car would end up sounding like the ALMS C6R . Does anyone have any good tips or recommendations? Thanks!

You live close enough to Effingham that you might consider going to FunFest. They have the exhaust installations going on the whole time. Good chance to hear all the different systems first hand.

destroked LS7, Corsa custom headers, side pipes no X or H pipe, no mufflers

Get some Corsa , LG Pro LTs, No cats, No X pipe or H pipe and straight pipes. now you wont pass emmsions with that.

Funny story! I had a 98 MN6 base Coupe. I actually HATED the way it sounded Thought about an exhaust system but,, the price (at the time) didn't fit the need.

In 02, i purchased an 02 ZO6. Man,, the car ROCKED and also sounded a LOT better than the 98.

Hmmmmm,, ,,, The ZO6 has a Ti exhaust system. There only $350. I can make my 98 sound as good as my 02 ZO6.

Boy was I disappointed! It sounded "better" but NOTHING like the ZO6.

The engine COMPRESSION & CAM have a LOT to do with the way the exhaust sounds!

On the same note,, I purchased a compete Stainless Works Exhaust system (headers, high flow cats, 3" mid pipe with X pipe and 3" muffler system for my stock 02 ZO6 in 2004. The car sounded significantly better after the system install! The car wasn't TOO loud and didn't have any DRONE.

In 07, I installed a big cam, new high compression heads and a ported FAST 90 intake/90mm TB

Now the exhaust system is SIGNIFICANTLY louder! It will get you attention!

Good point, that's what i did, there's so much info out there on what's what, you really have a benifit if you can hear in person. I went to Carlisle and did just that. Listened to as many as I could then made my choice based on that. good luck
