Best LS Engine Builder/Tuner in TX
Folks, I am interested in your opinions regarding the best build/tune shop in Texas. I may be looking at a bottom end rebuild on a slightly modified LS6. I have had some experience with LG but I am still interested in feedback on other shops.

Well, I've never had LG do any bottom end work for me, so keep that in mind, but I've dealt with them on alot of other random stuff and they seem like very good guys. For future needs I'll be going to them.

21st Century Musclecars in Dallas (Addison) is a Lingenfelter-licensed shop, John's son-in-law and daughter own it. First class all the way.
Last time I was down there they were building a ZR1 convertible with all the performance and body parts - quite a project.

I'd recommend Dallas Performance. They can take care of the engine rebuild/labor and tune.
Why? Just search their website and this place for the cars that come out of their shop and you will have your answer.

From what I see on this forum and from other members they seem to be top notch. They are a forum vendor and what they pump out from mild to wild is just crazy. I have researched them and from what it seems they will treat your car like it's their own and stand by what they do. All of the other vendors that have been mentioned are good seem to take care of buisness from what I see. I would call each shop up and tell them your needs and see who gives you that happy gut feeling. Either way yo really can't go wrong with any of thr above.

Hke
HKE is a builder only. They don't do installs or tunes. Dallas Performance farms out their machine work to HKE.
I'm looking for as close to a do it all shop as possible. So far, it sounds like all shops are going to farm out machine work to someone else, including Texas Speed. Question is who does each shop use and what is their reputation.

I don't know of any shop in Texas with a great reputation in the LSx industry that doesn't have someone else do their machine work.
Why are you against a performance shop sending their machine work to HKE or others?

Didn't say I was against it. Just trying to find out who would be doing the work and what their reputation is. The more work gets farmed out to another party the easier it is for someone to point the finger at someone else when something goes wrong.

Absolutely! HKE built the 414 that powers the fastest LSX based truck in the world.. Flaco has used Eric's motors throughout his quest to dominate. I am sure some of the other high powered Vette owners on this forum have fallen victum to the stockish looking Lil' Sis truck.
HPE used to have in house machine shop. However, that has been gone since Chuck left. I would check with EnglandGreen, if they use HKE on the backend they would get my vote.

Another vote to check out England Green. I didn't have mod work done, but had a fuel sending unit and other repairs. They did a great job and I would use them again.
