Default Issue with starting

This is weird to me as I never experience it before. When the key is turn to start, nothing happens, but when you release it to on, then the starter kicks in for just a second. Enough to turn the engine over just a bit.

Sounds like the ignition switch might need some TLC:

Took switch out and ohm checked as per Bills instruction and it checked out. Cleaned regardless and no different in ohm reading, all close to 0 Ohms. Reinstalled and still same issues.

Time to break out the Multimeter and start testing voltages! The TDR is the KEY TEST POINT to figure out what you have and dont have!

Well,,, If you have voltage there when you not cranking,,, either the TDR relay is bad OR something is really wrong with the solenoid. Remove the TDR and see what you read on Purple.

If you only saw 6 volts on that wire,, for what ever reason,, you have a bad battery, bad connection or something wrong with the battery cables.. Thats next to check out!! you should have seen battery voltage.

Battery is good I must been tired of looking at the meter, cause I checked it when I the fuse and i have battery power, there. 12.8 volts. I'm thinking maybe i did not have the meter set at the right setting.Tomorrow I 'll check for voltage on the starter fuse and keep goin back. If I have power,I'll check for bad wire from fuse to starter. Am I going in the right direction?

Hey Bill took me a few days, but finally got around to checking for voltage at stater fuse 62. I have battery voltage there in and out. Now I would have to check the tdr or do you suggest something different. I'm giving this car to my nephew to play with and i sure would like it to be at a point where he could start it with a key.

Well,,,, if you have ZERO VOLTS on the PURPLE WIRE when your are completing ALL the necessary steps to crank the engine,,,, the TDR is bad or the wires to or from the TDR are bad.

Sorry for being gone so long. I gave this car to my nepwe and I've let him troubleshoot it. He found the relay. The center one with the purple, red and blk/yellow wire.
Is this correct Bill?

There is battery voltage to the red wire but not to the purple with key on or start. If I jump purple to red with key on , then the engine cranks over. If I hold the key switch to start and then jump the red and purple then engine starts. Battery low so I'm recharging it, then I'm going to ground the yellow/blk wire and try to start. I would think the yellow wire come from the PNP and grounds the relay to close.

With the KEY in the ON position,,,, if you jump the RED and PURPLE, the engine should crank and RUN! (Make sure it out of gear!!!)

With the key in start and the clutch presed all the way down, if you ground the yellow black wire, it chould crank.

Bill has provided the schematic in this thread....no guess work here. The yellow wire provides 12 volts from the ignition switch, through the crank fuse, through the clutch switch....to the relay. The yellow/black wire, is a ground provided by the BCM.
