my car was doing that and making the sound, it was only a pin hole leak on the neck of the overflow tank right where the hose connects.
only found it with liquid dish soap rubbed it all over till i saw it making bubbles as the air blew out.
I used specal high water temp clue and glued it and it worked, guy who gave me the glue said it would not last forever, about a 1-1/2 years later the glue was hard wore out and leaked air again.and started running hot and over heating, id shut off and it would overflow the co0lant on the curb ;(.
so i bought a new jug and threw it on. no problems.. so a tiny air leak anywhere can cause it..
I have a small question, now i had an mayor blast of water out again,
There is on hose that goes from water pump and somewhere to back of the engine, now where directly this hose goes, i had a picture but i cant find it where it is now..
so im posting these 3 pictures, it shows some plastic thing taht conects these 2 hoses? what is this? it had a very very small crack on it but it caused yesterday to lose all the water, and temperatures came to 245 degree.
I really need to know what is this, on one picture an arrow can be seen, how can i put this correctly back on? and can i repair this small crack till i get new one?
Its either an ORIFICE or a CHECK VALVE. If it were me,, I would just bypass it with a piece of pipe the same size until you can get another one. Look inside the thing and see if you can figure out what it does.
Blow in it from either end and see if it restricts or check the flow in one direction.
it defenetely does something, you sure it would not be a problem to use anything else to instead of this?
how ever, water flows from both sides at same flow, must do something at biger temparatures, if it aint broken already inside and has no function no more.
Hope you are not taking your vette to a half *** corner mechanic.
nope, i try to get help from this forum and not even ask anyone else around in my town. my problems started few months back when ''specialists'' changed my water pump, from then, i have problems.
so i try to learn alot and do my self everything, since i love learning about these cars!

Actually - I had the same issue. I did the process where you disconnect the "crossover" tube, and let the air out of the system. This, for me, took about 30 minutes. Had no idea it was that bad. Car runs normal (driving) at 196. All good now.

As long as it works now its all worth the effort!
I'm need to buy new coolant tank and maybe a few hoses, and have no f'king worries. Can't wait till spring, getting my car out and burn that tires!
