Default Plug Wires

Planning on changing out my current stock plug wires and plugs when moving to headers. What I see a lot of offerings on the vendor lists, but looking for feedback on what you may have used or use now or to stay away from. Also cool sox or not for insulation of wires? Thanks

I had MSD and wasn't happy that they didn't "click" into place very well. I then went with the GM LS7 wires, which have a 90* plug end. These fit well with headers, are very good quality and click nicely into place. I have been very happy with these wires.

I am using the standard GMPP wires with the oem metal heat shields with my texas speed headers. No issues. The GMPP wires give a good positive click onto the plug as well.

GMPP Red Performance Wires and Im very happy with them. They fit 100%, and flat work. DO NOT be HYPED with all the FANCY HP BS that some wires spew! There is ZERO horsepower to be gained by wires or plugs!

Purchase wires for QUALITY/FIT and DURABILITY! The GM PERFORMANCE RED WIRES will not let you down...

Gene Culley has them for a great price. www.gmpartshouse.com

Some of the very best wires on the market right here and the bets deal you will find on them:

MSD feature a posi loc system, if they didn't click for someone they weren't on all the way.

Anyone make plug wires a little longer than stock? I may have to add a spacer to my valvecover or a taller valvecover because of shimming for Yellaterra rockers.

When I changed the plugs on my brothers 2000 something Tahoe I broke a wire and replaced it with one of the old ones from my 97 vette. The vette wire barely reached but did work, so the Tahoe wires were a bit longer but looked excactly the same. I think the plugs were the same as the Vetts also.

I'm pretty sure 99blancoss can have the MSD's made how ever long you need them.

at 54K they should only be at half of their lifespan. You cant get better than oem in this one case.

The plugs you have are probably ac delco 41-110... they are a better plug as in they will last longer than a Tr55 or TR6.. They are rated at 70,000-100,000 miles .. so unless they are degraded at all your better off with what you have.

with headers, you are going to need some quality wires for them to hold up to the heat. i would also suggest koolsox in combination with some zip ties to keep the wires away from touching the headers if needed. I have been using the gmpp red wires and koolsox with great results. burnt out a set of autozone wires before I learned my lesson .

It means, that exposure to high heat (over time) degrades the plug wires. Even with kool sox, it would be a serious stretch, to get 100k out of a set of wires if you have headers.
