There is a composet gasket thats suppose to be better: Cometic MLS Head Gasket

http://www.byunspeed.com/product_inf...oducts_id=4560

The OEM STock head gasket is also MLS and works very well. Im sure others that have been in your power level will chime in.

I know Chris and Doug at ECS do a LOT of very successful high power boosted LS engine work.. Give them a call and see what they recommend!

I would also strongly recommend installing a set of ARP Head studs! IMHO,, there a quality piece and work exteremely well. From installing NUMEROUS GM Stock LS head bolts,, the ARP Head studs look like they would be a lot more stable and apply the head load better. But,, like I said, thats my opinion.

How is head removal/install with the studs? Do you have to remove them to get the heads on and off?

You just remove the nuts and lift the head off. NO issues what so ever!

I was worried that the head would not be able to clear the studs before it hits something BUT,,,,, that is not the case!

It makes head installation and removal easier. Once you clean out all the block bolt holes, thats the last time you will ever need to do that job! The studs stay in the block!

I was under the impression the studs would make the job much harder unless the cradle was dropped. I just bought some ARP bolts to avoid this, but would much rather have studs.

The ARP studs are kind of expensive, but not only are they the best at holding, if you need to change/ RR heads, they're a big time saver.

I'm confused. Are you attibuting a failed head gasket to blowing a piston or does that have nothing to do with it?
