Default 1998 Corvette EBCM Module

I have been advised i need to either replace or rebuild my ECBM module on my 1998 Corvette. As you are aware, GM no longer offers this as a replacement part and I have been searching for NOS or used parts.

parts@corvettemike.com has reccomended BBM Remanufacturing of Tauton, Ma as a very good house to rebuild this module.

Does anyone have any experience with this shop or can offer any opinions.

I am located in New Jersey.

Thanks in advance.

many have tried to find someplace to repair the older modules-I don't think anyone has found one that actually does-they generally try to sell you a used one.

Did you mean these guys?

Doesn't look like they do it either. Pretty funny, soon it will be easier to fix a pre-1970 car than one that's 10 years old.

Default BBA Remanufacturer

I called this company looking for information and they said they will rebuild the unit for my car. They said $275.00 and it comes back to me with a lifetime warranty as long as it is in this car.

I am hoping to find a response frome someone who has dealt with these folks to see if they are worthy.

"lifetime warranty as long as it is in this car.

Does that mean,, If you live in NYC and they live in CA, you have to drive or ship the car to them??

Hope you have luck with them.

I wish I could find a broken one to expierment with..

Here are some questions to ask them.

Where do you get the replacement components such as ASICs, Memory Chips, Processor Chips, etc. If all they talk about is replacing the relay in the module then you can be sure they aren't doing much of a re-manufacturing job.

How do you know what to repair and whether the repair worked? Do you have a test stand that does a complete electrical function test of the unit when it comes in the door and before it is shipped?

They should at least be able to give some sort of indication of how they test the unit. It has several analog inputs, a couple of digital inputs and sends control signals to the solenoids in the BPMV. They should have some sort of a test stand that simulates the inputs and checks to see if the outputs respond appropriately to changes to the inputs. If the outputs aren't correct then they should have some sort of fault isolation procedure to determine which component to replace. Without that they are guessing about any repair just like you are guessing.

If they just replace every component in the module they still have to test to make sure the module actually works before they ship it. If they don't you are the test bed.
