Default Differential Fluid change

Just got a new 01 c5 33kmiles, only problems with it so far was the common rear differential noise, did alot of research thought I would post my results I used 2 quarts of Mobil 1 LS 75-90 synthetic figured I would give it a shot before buying from the dealer. and it helped but it didn't go away, I then added about 3/4's of a tube of trans-x friction modifier and the noise is gone!

and the passenger door will lock automaticly but wont unlock so the dealer I bought it from is replacing the passenger door control module as soon as the part comes in

other than that Its in mint condition pics coming soon

I believe the differential only uses 1.6 quarts of fluid which includes the friction modifier. You should have done your homework before putting in fluid without the modifier. On these cars, the modifier is required. Now are you aware there is a drive-line noise that seems to come with the cars? GM produced a video to make new owners aware that this was a normal sound. Sort of sounds like a lose drive-train system.

Yep.....over serviced. I'm sure the fluid will find it's way out the vent.

Note that Service bulletin PIP3559G from July 8, 2008 gives part number 89021677, SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant and part number 1052358, Limited-Slip Axle Lubricant Additive, are the proper products to be using for 1999 - 2004 Chevrolet Corvette, Corvette Z06.
