I don't see a 500rwhp A4 C5 going 200mph in 2-3 miles. My guess would be 185mph tops in 2-3 miles and 175mph in a mile
A new CTS-V wagon with 556hp got close to 180 within 3mi at the same lakebed. With a 15% drivetrain loss thats about 470rwhp (theyve dynoed from 470-480rwhp avg) and you cant compare the CTS-V wagon's areodynamics to a C5, 0.35 vs 0.29. Also the fact that the wagon is 4300lbs vs my C5's 3240lbs. I just hope theres enough traction for maximum acceleration within that distance.
Btw, I may be wrong but I believe that the cd of 0.29 for a C5 is at stock dimensions. A lowered car will be slightly lower also depending on stance as well. Plus in my case i will tape off some of the openings and seams on the car.
Theres the vids in the boost section of the guy always doing mile runs in the c5. He just cracked 200 with I believe over 800 to the wheels in a stroked ls3 and a regeared 5/6th gear if I remember correctly
I dont think 650 in is gonna get it done in that short of a distance. assuming you aren't gutting it and turing it into a race car. I would love to do the mile and hit 200 in it someday after my tr6060 conversion. I wonder how much power I will need.
Just as with 1/4 mile racing as I know you are very familiar with many variables come into play than just a peak rwhp number and they're all compounded in a race that's 4 times as long http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...er-200mph.html
Well I had a blast. It was fun yet scary as hell. Here's how it went;
First of all the lakebed, It was empty except for my car, one motorcycle and a filming crew on one side of the lakebed. Unfortunately though, instead of 4mi of lakebed we only had about 2.5 where we could do a run safely. Some idiots in subaru's and bmw's went in after hours and did some drifting, leaving some big dips and gashes on the surface and a few other spots were a little wet still. These were things i didnt wanna run over at 150+mph. So we went back and forth a couple times trying to find the smoothest path, which wasnt easy. I did a couple test runs first. One at 100mph all the across to see how it felt and another up to 150 where i let off and coasted for a mile. Then i went for it, couldnt go wot at all so i had to ease into it. No traction and my 315/30 r18 rears didnt help on dirt. At 160mph a very slight dip made me let off for a second but at 180mph i must got a cross wind or something, plus a lack of downforce, that made the rear sway and i shut her down. Now without being able to go wot, no traction and letting off for a second, i was doing 180mph @ 5600rpm in a distance of 1.8mi.(you can see the odometer in the vid) So, i know that on pavement with some traction i am capable of the 200mph mark. I felt that was good enough and i didnt wanna push my luck. Also i know i didnt have traction the entire length ofthe run because the car felt floaty and i ate up 2/32nds of tread. Like driving on sandpaper! So it was a little scary but fun. I would deffinately recommend a spoiler and skinnier tires, like 255's max.
Thanks man. On the lake everything in front of you blends in at that speed. It's scary. Had to keep my eyes on the odometer to know when to shut down. Adrenaline rush for sure.

I can only imagine the tunnel vision along with mirage feeling would be freaky...congrats, glad you kept the shiny side up!

A rear spoiler would add wind resistance. What about raking the car more or adding side skirts?

Thats true thats why i was thinking a smaller type like the carvaggio, just dont know how effective it would be. Havent looked into side skirts, maybe i should start.

Yeah it just looks glassy ahead and you can see dark spots on the ground that look like dips and bumps. You have to tell yourself that you just went over that spot and theres no bumps. I can only imagine how my passenger felt. Its worse when youre along for the ride and have no control. I owe him a beer!
Yeah you can really see the aero of the car. There is actually a good amount of downforce on the center of the hatch deck lid since my car is a little higher in the rear but im sure at those speeds it aint enough.
