What's a good guess as to what the problem is for the following conditions:
Poor clutch pedal feel when cold, gets better and feels fine once warmed up. Shifting is notchy when cold as well, smooth as butter once warmed up. The clutch pedal travel may also be down a 1/2 inch when cold, but seems better once warmed up.
My feelings are metal contraction and expansion due to the differences in performance with temperature, which would point to the clutch pressure plate.
The clutch fluid is fresh, and I religiously flush and bleed it out as it is, so I don't think that is the issue.
I can't say I remember when I first noticed this, but if I were to guess I would say sometime near when I installed the long tube headers. I don't think that has anything to do with it, unless the additional heat from the headers does something to the clutch line.
Man, you should have tried the 4 speed in the C3's cold.
Ha ha yes, believe me, I have. As well as the Nash 4+3s, woo hoo.
Because my car shifts mint when warmed up, I am not too concerned. I've had enough practice ripping the drive-lines out of these things, where replacing the clutch wouldn't be too much of a hassle. I was just wondering if anyone had a similar issue and figured out the cause, whether its mechanical or hydraulic. Letting it sit for a minute to warm up is nothing.
