Well FML lol. Went to leave work for my 3 day weekend, fire the car up and my steering wheel is locked. I have not done the bypass, I dont know if the recall was done. And service column lock is activated.
Is there anything I can do to bypass it here? Can I ordered the harness they sell and fix it or does it HAVE to go to the dealer to be unlocked?
To address your dire situation first, you can turn the ignition to the "on" position, and shake the wheel left and right, firmly, and the lock pin may disengage. IIRC, there's also a fuse that you can pull, and it will unpower the lock motor, but I don't remember which one it is. maybe someone will help out with that.
You can install a column lock bypass harness, but the bad news for you, is the column has to be in the unlocked position in order to do the install.
Read through the sticky at the top of the page, and go to the Compliance Parts website. Supposedly agressive turning of the wheel and/or "tapping" the column lock motor will free it up more times than not, but get one flavor or another of the Column Lock Bypass and install it.
Agree try to turn the wheel back and forth. Yours sounds like it had DID NOT HAVE the recal. If you get it free replace it as the factory did or it will do it again and not be so lucky.

I just wanted to say I got the stupid thing unlocked. I want to thank Bill here from the forums and richard at compliance parts.com Both of you guys were awesome help thank you so much. Bill, you had me doing the right thing on jumping the wires, but I ended up not having a solid connection so I grabbed a 12v batt from the shelf and went directly into the connector off the lock itself (unplugged from dash) and it worked perfect. Im ordering the LMC5 module now to keep the problem resolved.
